James Hansen has improved his own Tasmanian 1500m record at the ACT Track & Field Championships.
Jimmy broke the Tasmanian 1500m record at the Hunter Track Classic, running 3:39.56 to imrpove the mark set by Ryan Foster in 2011 by 1/100th of a second. At the Canberra meet he imrpoved the mark once again, running 3:39.56 to win the event ahead of Rorey Hunter (NSW) and Tom Fawthorpe third. This is the third Commonwealth Games B qualifier for Hansen, who will head to next months selection trials with the hope of reaching the 3:37.50 A qualifier and a top three finish for selection.
Following the 1500m, Hansen joined UTAS teammate Jordy Tyley in the 800m, with both athlees recording personal bests. Hansen broke the 1:50 mark for the first time, running 1:49.77 with Tyler not far behin don 1:53.30.
